During Season 2, Will splits his time between Hawkins and The Upside Down during his visions and while sharing his consciousness with the Mind Flayer this is an almost explicit reference to the dualistic nature and mythology of the twins. Will's connection to The Upside Down is clear from the 1st season of "Stranger Things." Another hint of Will's communicative Gemini nature is illustrated by his continued correspondence with his friends through the radio, and his mother Joyce via the lights, while trapped in The Upside Down.
